Rhinoplasty /Nose Job:
Rhinoplasty, sometimes termed a nose job, alters and reconstructs the nose. Plastic surgery is performed to repair the nose and modify its look. Reconstructive surgery fixes nasal damage from blunt, piercing, and blast trauma. Birth abnormalities, respiratory issues, and failed initial rhinoplasties may be treated with reconstructive surgery. Rhinoplasty may eliminate a hump, decrease nostril width, adjust the angle between the nose and mouth, or treat injuries, congenital abnormalities, or breathing issues such a deviated nasal septum or sinus disease.
Rhinoplasty is a significantly individualised procedure based on the patient’s concerns and the natural ability to improve the same surgically. The nose is the central feature of the face, and a well-done procedure can significantly change all facial features.
Rhinoplasty may alter/ modify/ enhance certain parts of the nose:
- To modify a disproportionately sized nose by reduction or augmentation
- To correct a Nasal Hump or Nasal bridge depression
- To fix a crooked or deviated nose
- To Refine or Reshape the Nasal tip
- Improve overall nasal contours.
- If the shape and contours of the nose are out of sync with the shape and contours of the rest of your face.
- To improve respiratory problems due to a deviated nasal septum, with or without cosmetic nose changes.
- To correct Post-trauma Nasal deformities
- Congenital/congenital disability like Cleft Nose deformity
- Secondary Revision Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can be carried out under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation.
Rhinoplasty can be done by two means: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
In closed rhinoplasty, the nose is approached by entirely internal incisions, so no external visible scars are left. The closed approach can achieve localised corrections such as Hump reduction, bridge augmentation, and the bony pyramid’s Narrowing.
In open rhinoplasty, a small visible external incision is made to connect the inner incisions and allow direct vision access to ALL areas of the nose. Comprehensive rhinoplasties, where changes are planned in most areas of the nose, are best done by the open approach. The exterior scar is barely visible after three weeks.
